Overall objective:
To contribute to increasing greenery & attractiveness of the cities in EE-LV-RU border area for their residents & visitors as a result of effective green management policies, practices & innovations compliant with national green regulations & efficiently applied by local urban actors.

Specific objectives:
1. Improved efficiency of urban green areas management (GM) in Tartu, Rezekne & Pskov;
2. Increased coverage of green areas (GA) in the cities by creation of GA and preparation of tech docs for future GA;
3. Improved networking & experience sharing between the specialists dealing with urban GM.

Target groups, final beneficiaries:
1. Urban decision- & policy makers dealing with urban development & spatial planning, green management from Tartu, Rezekne, Pskov – at least 30 persons;
2. Leading “green” specialists from the associated municipal structures (e.g. Green Trusts, Zelenkhoz etc.) providing day to day green care (like planting, cutting, trimming of trees, etc.) – at least 20 persons;
3. Scholars from universities located in EE-LV-RU area & teaching GA-related courses, such as green landscape design, GIS, environment management, urban development, urban spatial planning – at least 15 persons;
4. Environment NGOs – at least 6;
5. Mass Media – at least 15 different regional / local media.

Activities, expected results:
– 2 comprehensive inventories of green areas in Pskov & Rezekne performed, greenery identified and 2 databases prepared; 2 new green areas management systems prepared (Tartu’s system updated);
– 4 sets of technical documents for creation / restoration of green areas produced: Tartu – “Reconstruction of the Mathiesen Park” (1 ha); Pskov – “Restoration of the Botanic Garden” (6,4 ha); Rezekne City – “Reconstruction of North Industrial Zone Park” (2,5 ha), Rezekne Municipality – “Development of Greivuli Recreation Path” (2 km);
– 4 large-scale urban green areas created: the Arboretum (DendroPark) in the center of Pskov restored (5 ha); the Friendship Alley in the center of Tartu created (1 ha); eco-friendly Children’s recreation Area in Raina Park in Rezekne City reconstructed (0,6 ha), the Ancupani Forest Park Cover in Rezekne Local Municipality improved (9,48 ha). Besides, the project envisages the creation of small green areas: the Rozarium of Partner Cities & the Natural Trail in the center of Tartu;
– A series of trainings on GIS (geo-information systems) conducted in all 3 participating countries.
