Representatives of Pskov Region took part in the eco-educational study tour to Estonia

pic_logoOn September 25-29, 2012 in the framework of the international project «Promoting nature education as an effective means of increasing public awareness» / PEOPLE WITH NATURE study tour to Estonia was held. Study tour organizer – Tartu Environmental Education Centre.

More than 20 experts from Latvia, Estonia and Russia became familiar with the system of ecological education and interactive teaching methods of Estonia , visited 14 eco-educational institutions and natural areas: national parks, environmental education centers, natural school, hiking nature trails. The participants also descended into a mine, where shale ore was excavated in the past, visited the Mining Museum and the newly opened Museum of the Ice Age.

Pskov Region was introduced by representatives of The State Committee on Natural Resources  and Environmental Protection, The National Park «Sebezhsky» and NGO «Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov».

Study trip to Estonia was the first joint trip of Latvian, Estonian and Russian partners within the PEOPLE WITH NATURE project. The next year these trips will be organized on the territory of Latvia and Pskov Region, Russia.

The project «People with nature» is co-financed by the Estonia-Latvia–Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme within the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013. Total funding of the project is EUR 1.5 millions; contribution of Estonia–Latvia–Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme is about 1.35 millions EURO. The remaining 150000 EURO are local funds of the project partners.
