NGO «Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov» distributed environmental information materials among municipal departments on education

pic_logoOn August 22, 2013 at the Grand Philharmonic Hall of Pskov City a traditional August teachers’ council was held, which was attended by teachers, heads of educational institutions, specialists of the State Board on Education, municipal departments on education, deputies of municipal district assemblies, community leaders. Specifically for the meeting NGO «Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov» has produced an information stand where educational materials issued in recent years were presented: DVD «Virtual Museum of Lake Peipsi», field guide «Birds of the Pskov Region», methodical brochure «Environmental Experience of Education in Pskov Region», tutorial on biology «Peipsi Lake and its Inhabitants», information guide «Fish and Fishing in Lake Peipsi», a board game for children «Journey of Boole the Smelt in Pskov Lake», information Guide on Eco-trails in Remdovsky Nature Reserve «In the Land of Forests, Wetlands and Ponds».

Additionally, NGO «Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov» prepared and distributed the presentation packages with information materials to heads of municipal departments on education for further dissemanation among schools of Pskov Region. Each package included newly prepared products in the field of environmental education: field guide «Birds of the Pskov Region» and the DVD «Virtual Museum of Lake Peipsi».

A release of the Virtual Museum of Lake Peipsi became a unique information product to promote cultural, historical and natural potential of the whole Peipsi Lake area. While developing the Virtual Museum a huge work was implemented to reveal and to describe the most valuable and interesting objects of cultural, historical and natural heritage of the region. Virtual Museum of Lake Peipsi has been prepared using regional budget allocated in the form of subsidies provided by Administration of Pskov Region and grant funds provided by the Estonia – Latvia – Russia ENPI CBC Programme 2007-2013 withib the project «People with Nature». To prepare some sections of the Virtual Museum materials developed by the UNDP/GEF project «Preparation and implementation of Basin Management Program Peipsi Lake» were partially used.

The project «People with Nature» is co-financed by the Estonia-Latvia–Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013. Total funding of the project is 1.5 millions EUR; contribution of Estonia–Latvia–Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme is about 1.35 millions EURO. The remaining 150000 EURO are local funds of the project partners.
